In a small fishermen's village love affairs are in turmoil, amidst political meetings and revolutionary activities. Nature adds drama to the human passions with its wind- and sea-storms.

Jean Larivière receives an impromptu visit from his future father-in-law while Lina, his mistress, learning of his marriage, has come to make a scene. The baron is seduced by Lina, and Jean, noticing that Angélique, his fiancée, is not so bad after all, is very happy to marry her.

Philibert Bretonneau signs novels which are actually written by Moluchet, his secretary, secretly in love with Bretonneau's charming wife, Pauline... One day, Jim la houlette, the king of thieves, resurfaces in France. He steals jewels from Madame Clisson, the wife of a lawyer. Saint-Lévy, Bretonneau's publisher, has an idea : to simulate the theft of a manuscript by Jim la houlette, in fact by Moluchet posing as the criminal. But Moluchet, confronted by the real Jim, lets him run away and is arrested...

Kid Marc is an upcoming boxer about to become the European Lightweight Champion, only he discovers his surprising victories had been handled by his manager, César Cannebois. This time, he vows to win on his own merits, to show his girlfriend how good he really is - and chiqué is stronger, and he loses in the ring. All glamour gone, everybody abandons him, save for his loyal and loving girlfriend. Régina is going to be his queen.

Claude loves Gisèle, Raymonde loves Édouard, but a double misunderstand leads to the marriage of Claude and Raymonde. Obviously, they vow not to consumate the marriage until they divorce, and can marriage their true loves. But than, come the honey-moon night, more extraordinary things happen to them - even love.

Open and shut case: Maxime Dartois, the painter, is found dead in his penthouse with three bullets in his body, but the pistol that killed him is still being held by the (fainted) young lady by his side. A detective will find a few odd notes, and the plot thickens when plenty of people are interviewed, and more than one could have the will, and the opportunity, to be the killer, and it is not clear what the relationship of the girl was with the deceased.

From 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., in a documentary fashion, the film shows different character types sitting, meeting, and working at a cocktail's bar.
