Thanks to archive material, reminiscences by those who knew her, and her own reflections vividly recited by actress Paola Cortellesi, the personal story and political career of Nilde Iotti transcends the biographical and touches the core of our own lives today.

The film is set in Cagliari, Sardinia, in a fantasy world where the political leader has absolute power. In this fantasy world, a group of gays, lesbians and transgenders kidnaps the despotic leader and demands a ransom for his release. But can those who have lived in total hypocrisy, who have made lying the key to their success, ever really be sincere?

The Zapatero government, in its first year in office, has resulted in the approval of numerous laws, some of which deal with particularly ethically sensitive matters and have aroused (and are arousing) great debate both within the country and abroad. In this context, a Spanish television station, impressed by the interest aroused abroad by these issues, particularly in Italy, wondered about the perception of these matters (especially same-sex unions) among the Italian population. That is why it sent its own crew to Italy, specifically to Rome and Lazio, to make a documentary focusing on their opinions, in an environment steeped in Catholicism and close, even physically, to the Vatican. Andrea Miguel Hernandez, director of the investigation, however, will find himself catapulted into a situation that is very personal to him. A woman he had loved in Madrid several years earlier now lives in Rome and is romantically linked to a woman...

Alice is twenty-two years old and has recently been living in the house she inherited from her grandmother in Cagliari's Castello neighborhood. She is lost and restless, invested by a whirlwind of blurred memories of her childhood. One day she goes to the prison to visit a man with whom she will reminisce about the vicissitudes of Silvia, a drug-addicted girl who was in and out of her daughter's life. Rosaria, a strong grandmother who gave up helping her own daughter to raise her granddaughter. And finally of Silvia's friend, French Julien, with his life punctuated by letters and poems, who had an almost paternal affection for Alice. But Alice did not go to Julien just to take stock of her family; she wants to know if he is her father. She will unexpectedly find the strength to return to her life and smile, not after that answer, but thanks to a boy who, like her, is connected to Julien's past.

His masterpiece, "The last punch of Earth", will be analyzed and debated, a film which examined Italian change and European reflection.
