The Golden Road

Mzia’s classmates have decided to stay in their village and work at the Sovkhoz after graduation. But Mzia’s mother wants her to go to Tbilisi to become a student.

A Soviet army unit finds a bridge over a river blown up. The Ilo Gigauri Battalion is tasked with rebuilding it. Under constant enemy artillery fire, the fighters work selflessly to rebuild the bridge and successfully complete their combat mission.

Based on the autobiographical book "Ya -sam" (I-myself) by Vladimir Mayakovsky the leading Russian Futurist poet of the beginning of the 20th century. He was born in 1893, into a Russian Cossack family in the Transcaucasian kingdom of Georgia, then part of Russian Empire. There he spent his childhood and boyhood attending a grammar school in Kutaisi. Mayakovsky moved to Moscow at the age of 14, after his father's death. He became a poet, an artist, an actor, a writer/director and public speaker.

Ketevan, a village doctor, is already sending her second son away in the world war. Only the youngest child, Mamuka, remains as the family's hope. Ketevan does not lack care for the sick, lives in hope, and waits for his children to return home. But the harsh reality of the war demands a sacrifice from her again - Ketevani sends his third son to the war as well.

The film delves into the moral dilemmas of human relationships. An old sailor, the sole survivor of a ship that sank during the war, grapples with the weight of a moral compromise made many years ago. As he reflects on his past, he recalls his carefree life, filled with mistakes, and the crime he committed against the captain of the lost ship.

Local baron decides to take poor Kikola’s land and orders a local witch Babale to persuade Kikola’s wife that non-compliance will bring suffering to their children Kato and Kajana. On the day of the Bonfire, Kato plays a wicked trick on her brother by dressing up as an evil imp. The shock makes Kajana dumb. The parents take him to a distant village where he has to "meet the miraculous icon" in hope of recovery.
