The Book of the Octopus

The Book of the Octopus

1995 · 82 min · Documentary

"Bläckfiskens bok" is made up of three short films ("Första resan", "Drömresan" and "Sista resan"). While making these movies, Nilsson tried to put himself in an artificial depression in order to see the world as an angry and sad man. "My mind functions like a spider's web: all the images, all the ideas, all the sentences, all the idiocies stick. Thus am I a prisoner."

According to Eric M Nilsson, this is an utterly unsuccesful film. It's a film about things he saw but never understood. If two people gaze upon the same thing, one of them will claim to experience something else. In this, they receive evidence that they exist, because the individual understands comparisons — but hates similarities.
