The year is 1941 in Sweden and Astrid seeks independence by trying to become a train conductor. On the train she meets an older passenger Dora, which she feels attracted to. Astrid also faces a more dark and hostile world on board as she discovers that the staff has put in system to reject unwanted passengers such as Romans and Jews.

When youth worker Nic crosses paths with Elijah, a troubled teenager with undeniable basketball talent, he sees more than just a boy in need of help. Determined to steer him away from a destructive path, Nic takes Elijah under his wing, risking personal and professional boundaries to help him realize his potential both on and off the court. Against all rules and without anyone else's knowledge, Nic offers Elijah to move in with him. This marks the beginning of a close relationship, and the encounter with Elijah also helps Nic gain a deeper understanding of himself.
