Gentle Breath

On March 17, 2004, an explosive device was activated at the Piloto Public Library in Medellín, where much of the photographic archive of Colombian history is kept. A photograph is the only evidence of this barbarism.

Karen discovers, after 10 years of marriage, she has left behind her dreams devoting herself to home chores and realizes it has been a mistake that cost her her youth. She decides then to separate and go in search of a life of its own. With her savings she rents a room in the center of Bogota and tries to get a job, but her age and inexperience makes it difficult. Karen will have to decide between returning to the stability of a relationship or facing life for herself.

‘A Vanishing Fog’ creates an emotionally deep mystical portrait of life’s end and beginning which are both born in the middle of life. The ancient sacred place Sumapaz Páramo in Colombia is the world’s largest Alpine tundra ecosystem and a source of drinking water for the capital’s 11 million residents who have to admire the protected mountain range with its mercilessly harsh climate from a respectful distance. Sumapaz, left outside human activities and the boundaries of law, has become a criminal backroad, the last barricades of which mountain guard F defends with his father and other natives.

Among the backdrop of 1950s Los Angeles, Johnny, a working-class hoodlum caught up with a ring of car thieves, is floored when he meets Laura, a rich girl riding in a hot set of wheels. But nothing can prepare these teenage lovebirds for the head-on collision of cultures that results from their passion-fueled, high-octane relationship.
