The action of the film takes place in two periods of time. An old man leads his son through a forest, and is simultaneously under his care confined to bed with a deadly illness.

A man seated next to the body of his young wife thinks about their brief life together. Suicide has been the only escape for her... Dumala's technique creates a dark, claustrophobic atmosphere, entirely suitable for Dostoyevski's novel "A Gentle Spirit" on which it is based.

"Wyspa R.O" is a highly personal story about freedom, fate and love as well as Lenica's personal creative testament.
