Good Boys

Five short movies, linked by an animation, inspired by the life and work of Amos Guttman, the director from Transylvania who was a pioneer in Israeli gay cinema and died from AIDS in 1993. Produced by Tel Aviv Film Festival, it is a mixture of different styles and genres and is directed by six film-makers. In the last moving episode Kati Guttman celebrates his son, who passed away twenty years ago, and also recalls for the first time his own deportation to the Nazi death camps.

Despite the abundance of its directors and cinematographers, it was not much anticipated that one day Israel could become an incredible land of creation for LGBT cinema.

Set in Tel Aviv, focuses on an interconnected group of friends and their various relationships. At the center is the adorably bookish Omer, about to turn 30, who still hasn't found himself, and his free-spirited best friend Miki, who both end up inadvertently dating the same handsome journalist, Ronen.

As in previous editions, lesbian filmmakers were asked to visualize their conceptions and observations of gay eroticism and sexuality, just as, conversely, gay filmmakers were asked to explore lesbian love in the Israeli capital.

TLVFest called for members of the LGBT community to document themselves on 11.11.2011. These materials construct this film and portray a rich mosaic of voices and experiences in the LGBT community in Israel. The objective of this project was to enable its participants to present their points of view showcasing the different meanings of lesbian, gay, trans, or bi identity in Israel.
