Bhagshesh: The Remainder

A biographical drama, Bhagshesh tells the tale of Madhumanti and her relationship with her step-daughter. Madhumanti marries her college friend Amit after his divorce only to take care of his 7-year-old daughter, Pooja. The daughter, devastated by her parents' divorce holds Madhumanti responsible for it, only to realize later that Madhumanti loved her unconditionally.

The Slow Man and His Raft

Set in rural Bengal, Pradipta Bhattacharyya’s contemplative drama about the human condition, The Slow Man and His Raft, centres on Nadhar, a motion-impaired, middle-aged man, “slower than a sloth”, who is swept into a touring circus following the death of his caregiving mother. Nadhar is something of a relic, a slow man stranded in a frantic, productive society. For those around him, his slowness can at best serve as a derisory spectacle. An expansive meditation on human nature, slowness and being profoundly out of step with the world.

A lady wants to rent an apartment but everything goes wrong once she enters the abbot with a happy go lucky property agent.the agent leaves her alone just for a few minutes and suddenly she discovers that she is definitely not the only visitor!and on broad daylight things start to happen which make no sense but with only one explanation....there are few inmates in the apartment who are too friendly to handle.

This film is partially inspired by the first volume of renowned Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's seminal novel 'Srikanto'. On an idyllic retreat sponsored by an influential friend, Srikanto, the drifter-protagonist, comes across the beautiful Rajlokhi, his friend's mistress.

You May Not Believe

What is a name? Is it merely a word? A name of a person denotes his/her external identity. It is related to each and every social action and reaction of a person with other persons. The film deals with the plight of the protagonist whose name has changed overnight. The problem aggravates when the changed name connotes religious and cultural differences when Shymal (a Hindu name) or Salim (a Muslim name), the protagonist becomes Salim or Shyamal. The film brings into focus the crisis in his life and the pain of being ostracized and alienated by everyone that matters to him. In such a situation of loneliness, Shyamal identifies with his next-door neighbor who has also been alienated and is fighting his lonely existence.

The Sacrifice

In the ancient land of Tripura, a king, a queen, and a priest rule over a kingdom steeped in superstition. The people believe the prosperity of the land depends on the blessings of the fierce Goddess Kali. If the Goddess is angered, it is said, destruction will follow. The queen, childless and desperate, clings to this belief. Convinced that a grand animal sacrifice will earn the Goddess's favour and grant her fertility, she turns to the priest for divine intervention. Together, they prepare a lavish ritual that will spill innocent blood. But the king, disturbed by the brutality of such traditions, declares a ban on animal sacrifice throughout his realm. A battle ensues: the queen and the priest defend the sacrifice as sacred duty, while the king sees it as inhumane violence.

Lyaad

The film is about a frustrated corporate man (Ritwick Chakraborty), buried in work even on a Sunday morning. He is rattled by frantic calls from his office, continued nags from his wife to do the weekend tasks, chaotic loudspeaker announcements from the lane besides, agitated pressure-cooker whistle as if it’s going to burst anytime – and amid all this catastrophe his phone hangs! This is when the iconic Bhooter Raja, appears in his hung-mobile through an app & gives him a boon, a boon where he will be in slumber for a day – nothing in the world can affect him while he taking rest (rather Lyaad) for 24 hours. The musical starts from here and captures a day where he is enjoying his Lyaad moments, completely unaffected by the chaos around.
