Gente bien is a Mexican telenovela produced by Lucy Orozco for Televisa and originally broadcast on Canal de las Estrellas from April 28 to August 15, 1997. Created by Lucy Orozco, Antonio Serrano, and Humberto Robles, the telenovela stars Patricia Manterola and Mario Cimarro, with stellar performances by Helena Rojo, Ana Martín, and María Rivas. The story follows María Figueroa, a hardworking and honest young woman who is forced to leave her job after suffering harassment from her employer. She later begins working at the Dumas family's company, where she becomes involved in a world of power, corruption, and family conflicts. There, she meets Gerardo Felipe, an environmentalist fighting against illegal activities connected to the company, and together they face obstacles, betrayal, and the struggle to protect their love.

A fatalistic car crash in Mexico city sets off a chain of events in the lives of three people: a supermodel, a young man wanting to run off with his sister-in-law, and a homeless man.

Police chief Fernándo Gomez Miranda kills his friend, the well-respected lawyer and likely candidate for Attorney General, Raúl de Los Reyes and his youngest daughter of only thirteen in a vehicle ambush. Gomez' son, Luis Mario – a sad-eyed broadcast journalist of passionate conviction – arrives on the scene soon after with his camera and discovers a wounded survivor in the car; Camila, the eldest daughter of de Los Reyes. Luis rushes her to the hospital, saving her life and thereby creating a bond between them that he cannot escape. Luis' half-brother, police detective Alfonso Carbajal, is assigned to the case. An old schoolmate of Camila's, Alfonso has long been in love with her and conflicts arise when all evidence points to Camila being involved in the drug trade. The two brothers find themselves caught between their professional duty that would require them to expose Camila and their desire to protect her.

The first couple, Carlos and Ana, live on the seventh floor of a building. Ana feels she's entitled to more love than her husband is willing to give. Suddenly, an old friend, Tomás, reappears after many years away and stays at their house. Andréa and Miguel live in the building across the street and are also going through a marriage crisis. In a party, they meet Cláudia, Miguel's first girlfriend, and she has no place to stay. Naturally, she's invited to sleep at their place. The presence of the two newcomers will cause many changes in their relationships.

Francesco wins the deal, but soon he discovers that Claudio is not what he says.
