Esti HaMekho'eret (Ugly Esti) is an Israeli television comedy-drama series starring Riki Blich. The series premiered on 3 July 2003 on Channel 2 in Israel and was created by Shlomo Moshiah. This series is based on the Mexican telenovela "El amor no es como lo pintan".

A little group of people in Israel decides to track down a treasure which, according to the legend, is placed in the city of Petra in the kingdom of Jordan. No man ever survived this treasurehunt "to the other side" (of the Jordan River) before and the adventure ends up with fatal consequences.

Israeli attorney Hanna Kaufman's beliefs are challenged when she's appointed to the defense of Selim Bakri. Kaufman, born in the United States to survivors of the Holocaust, has always accepted Israel's right to exist. However, she bears witness to some of its sovereign costs when she meets Bakri, a dispossessed Palestinian man facing serious criminal charges who wants the same thing as his supposed enemies: to reclaim his family home.

An American reporter and his girl-friend are visiting Israel to get a "sense of the people", in the process he meets many Israelis and some Arabs as well, particularly becoming friends with an Israeli Army reserve officer as well as an idealistic young man who is a pacifist.

Two Israeli agents uncover a ring of uranium smugglers. When Israeli agent Dan learns that an Austrian company has purchased a shipload of uranium for an Arab country, he calls in his colleague Renzo.
