A Parked Life is an intimate portrait of Petar Bonchev, one of the hundreds of thousands of Eastern European truck drivers who work in the west.

David has a woman he loves, two lovely young children, a band of friends with whom they go on holiday. But on his return from a stay in the Vosges, he is interrogated by the police in connection with an investigation into a murder. Quickly, it is established that David, under irreproachable looks, does not have a life as smooth as what he claims. Despite the support of his best friend, Noël, and his lawyer, Marco, the doubt spreads.

Four strangers find themselves groggy and disoriented on a deserted island covered with surveillance cameras. Stripped of their belongings, they each hold a phone—blank, with no apps or signal. Suddenly, a message from a masked captor appears: they have 48 hours to figure out why they've been taken if they want to survive. To do so, they’ll be allowed two minutes of connexion at random intervals. But if they try to contact loved ones or alert the authorities, their mission ends, and they'll be executed.

Samuel is 23 when he arrives in Rwanda as an audiovisual facilitator at the French Cultural Centre in Kigali. Having made this choice to avoid the classic military service, he finds himself without a camera in a country at war. The French army has even set up camp within the Cultural Centre. During the 18 months he spends there, the warning signs accumulate, but Samuel doesn't believe or doesn't want to believe them. What he is told seems impossible to him: France cannot possibly support a regime that commits or encourages such atrocities. It doesn't keep him though from enjoying the country and partying, but doubt creeps in, his certitudes start wavering, and Samuel finally opens his eyes.

Marco and Eva meet up in a garage courtyard to share the objects left over from their defunct relationship. But they have different takes on their separation and their expectations regarding this last encounter differ considerably...

The Belgian shipping company Red Star Line carried more than 2 million migrants from Antwerp to New York between 1873 and 1934. Most of them were Eastern Europeans who had left their homes and their families due to war and poverty. Through taped interviews, more than 2000 Red Star Line passengers relate the most important journey of their life.
