Combining archival footage with dramatized episodes based on real accounts, this film examines everyday life in Nazi Germany through the experiences of ordinary citizens. Directed by Eberhard Itzenplitz and Erwin Leiser, it traces how conformity, opportunism, fear, and routine compromise drew “ordinary” men and women into complicity with the regime, revealing the banality of evil at work in daily life.

The miniseries charts Napoleon Bonaparte’s career from his return after the Egyptian campaign to his downfall and exile on Elba, portraying his political maneuvering, military ambition, and complex relationships with key figures such as Talleyrand, Fouché, Murat, Tsar Alexander, Joséphine de Beauharnais, and Countess Marie Walewska.

Lolfo, who was unconditionally devoted to her, pursued Ferdinand and killed him. Lolfo commits suicide.

After a line of mischief Philip Gale, an American sailor, is lured into hiring on the "Yorikke", a tramp cargo, by Lawski, a stoker from Poland. Still, the two become friends within the motley crew of losers from all nations. Gale and his new companion soon are more than disillusioned: the "Yorikke" is far from seaworthy and more of a coffin than a ship, work is close to slavery, and treatment by the officers and their subalterns is harsh and cynical. 1958: during the Russian campaign, a military priest is called upon to assist Private Baranowski, who has been sentenced to death for desertion, on his last night. It is also the last night before the departure for Stalingrad, which the soldiers know means certain death. The priest leaves his room to a captain so that he can meet his fiancée one last time. He himself remains in Baranowski's cell and struggles with his conscience and his emotion - even more so when he learns that the young doomed man committed desertion out of love. But the execution is carried out, and a member of the firing squad finds only cynical words for the soldier's fate.

London crime reporter Barney Blair has an appointment in his office with Janosch Kovac, the hotel detective at the Hotel Atlanta in San Remo.
