“Broken Silence” is composed of five hourlong shorts from a quintet of international directors: Hungary’s Janos Szasz (“Eyes of the Holocaust”), Argentina’s Luis Puenzo (“Some Who Lived”), Russia’s Pavel Chukhraj (“Children From the Abyss”), the Czech Republic’s Vojtech Jasny (“Hell on Earth”) and Poland’s Andrzej Wajda (“I Remember”). The helmers, some descendants of Holocaust survivors, focus on the atrocities within their particular parts of the world, with testimonials, pictures and an overall tone as they pertain to each region’s culture and history.

Italian gambler who is well-skilled in the card trade owes people in authority, and leaves his country to win the money. Arriving in a small Russian town, he tries to show off his tricks to the local card swindlers but is caught and ends up agreeing to a friendship and a cooperation. It is hard not to find oneself liking the gallant Italian.

The film is set during 1962 in Sevastopol, Crimea, then a secret Navy Base in the Soviet Union. General Serov hires Viktor, a cadet from the Kremlin Guard to work as his private chauffeur. In a jet-black "ZIM" limo, Viktor is chauffeuring the General's disabled daughter Vera. Viktor is oblivious to the hidden agenda of the KGB agent Saveliev, who manipulates everyone behind the scenes in the old rivalry between the Army and KGB.

After graduating from the institute, biologists Chernov and Bochkin go to the tundra and organize a wildlife preserve. Experiencing constant resistance from the local authorities, Chernov cannot stand the tense situation and decides to return to Moscow. Bochkin regards his friend's act as a betrayal…

The film follows the chance encounter between two teenagers in crisis - Olesya and Victor. They both feel trapped and are looking for their way out. Olesya ran away from home and is waiting for her father to step off the train from Riga, while Victor desperately wants to get to Riga, or to some other place where people are truly good.

A son comes to Leningrad on the birthday of his mother. He is the director of a large Siberian construction, twice married, happy in work, and in family life. His second wife Lida is also here. She brought her son and daughter with her. The youth of the mother of the family fell on the 30s. Life practically did not change its principles and beliefs. And it's not clear to her children, and even more so grandchildren, for whom her ideals do not mean anything.

In Russia, there has long been a society of billiards, whose members are scattered throughout the country. Many of them have long become millionaires. In order to somehow brighten up their old age, the new generation of billiards decided to chip in and give their teachers a big mansion, where there will be decent food, good medical care and fresh air. Soon, he completely changes his mind and organizes an ambush on the road, takes away not only his own money, but also his total money. The barely surviving couriers report this to all members of the community. The group comes up with a decent punishment by sending him a professional pool player nicknamed Classic. The bandit will have to fight with a virtuoso who prefers to play for large sums in order to save money.

By miracle he avoided death and returns to the house where he was born. In the house now lives the love of his life. But the hope for happiness turns sour with a terrible discovery: his beloved is the daughter of his enemy.
