Cléo from 5 to 7: Remembrances and Anecdotes

More than 40 years after making "Cléo de 5 à 7," Agnes Varda invites her star, two other cast members, and her assistant directors to look back. She takes us through the film, from opening scene to the end, visiting its Paris locales, placing her aged actors in the same spots, telling stories, and listening to others' reflections on the making of the film. She and they talk about making a film on a low budget, its showing at Cannes, and trying to fix a problem in the last shot. Her assistant directors discuss casting, costumes, sets, and the ways the film changed their approaches to filmmaking.

Antoine Rossi, a recidivist prisoner of war in Germany, manages to escape with the cowardly Fendard. Fendard does everything in his power to help him even though he is wounded, but Antoine tries to get rid of him as he boards the train to freedom.

On his way from Madrid to Paris, Diego, a chief of the Spanish Communist Party, is arrested at the border for an ID check but manages to flee. When he arrives in Paris, he searches for one of his comrades to prevent him from going to Madrid where he could be arrested.

Clara and the Why Not

A few hours later, just as the band is about to leave for a concert in Paris at the high school they attended, Bertrand runs into Clara, who suggests they run away together and then disappears... Bertrand, completely captivated by Clara, leaves the band and sets off in search of her... in Paris.

Joséphine, ou la comédie des ambitions

1793. The Reign of Terror has descended upon Paris. Carts roll toward the guillotine. In the corridors of the Convention, an elegant woman requests an audience. Her face distraught, she introduces herself: Josephine de Beauharnais, wife of Citizen-General Beauharnais, accused of treason. She pleads to save him from prison—a prison she herself will experience a few days later. The beautiful Creole woman doesn't yet know that her destiny is about to take a brighter turn, for she will soon meet another General. His name: Bonaparte.
