Simon lives a quiet life on his farm until one day he discovers he is the heir of a great fortune.

Erik Andersson marries Brita Blomstedt. During the wedding party he drinks alcohol which he is not used to. Later that evening Erik is involved in a brawl that end with a policeman getting a knife in the back.

Rudolf Carlsson, who works at a department store, dreams of making movies.

During the spring of 1940 two young men gets drafted and deployed close to the Norwegian border, where they fall in love with the same woman.

Eric and Clarence are friends from the same class in school - but from different social classes. Eric comes from the working class, Clarence from the upper class. An agrarian community sometime in the 1700s. The farmer Påvel is married with his young wife Märit and very proud to have married such a young and sweet girl. Märit however, is disappointed about her marriage. Their neighbor Håkan lives alone on his farm and he falls in love with Märit. He tells her of his feelings and Märit is torn between the security of her marriage and the feelings she has for Håkan.

Jörgen bets that she can't work as a house-maid but, if she manages it, he will buy her a diamond ring. Helga becomes a house-maid at Vinger Mansion and falls in love with an inventor, Bertil Frigård, who lives there.

A gang of friends lose their club house and collect money for a new one by singing in public.

The rejected artist Tore Nilsson disrupts the radio managers broadcast and gets his singing audition live on air.

On a tourist trip abroad the passengers on the coach witness an assassination attempt on the President Hurkas. One of the tourists has evidence against the perpetrators, and is killed when the coach reaches Sweden. Another passenger observes how one of the perpetrators is picked up by a yellow car. She is kidnapped and locked up in a mental hospital.

In the beginning of WW II a Swedish ship in a northern French port is exposed to German air raids. The captain take a chance to leave the port without permission. A stranded woman seize the chance to get home to Sweden.

A lonely young man falls in love with a girl he has observed from a distance. One day he stops her on the street and asks if she has lost a piece of jewelry.

Adolph Turesson is a mild-mannered, meek college professor whose faint-heart isn't impressing the fair-lady he secretly loves, the golden-haired Britta Larsson. Attending a lecture, he witnesses the attention paid to his lady-love by other faculty members, and falls to sleep. He dreams of the olden days and the knights, and the comely ladies of the court over whom they fought. His dream also gives all the cast the change to play a second role. Upon awakening, he proposes to Britta.
