Brave sons of the king, twin brothers Jaroslav and Jaromír love and help each other. It was they and another brother - Jindrich, who once saw the portrait of Princess of Diamond Mountains, fell in love and went on her quest.

The couple have tried many things in their lives: studying, finding a job. But none of these have fully satisfied them. But Karel, who himself lives with a sense of failure in his life, is finding it difficult and slow to adjust to the new member of the family...

As intrusive experiments, constant scrutiny, and malfunctioning gadgets strain their family life, a planned railway project momentarily frees them. Eva conceives again, but when only one baby arrives amid fading public interest, the state and the spotlight move on.
