In this second documentary in the Jordbro suite, we follow the children from childhood into puberty. They have to start thinking about their future life; work or study in high school?

In this third documentary in the Jordbro suite, six years have passed since the end of ninth grade for the children. They're on their way into adult life, most of them have started working, and some of the girls have kids of their own now.

In this fourth documentary in the Jordbro suite, we follow Mona's journey from Jordbro to Sundbyberg; from an eight year old mischievous girl, to a grown-up woman working as manager, with a husband and a kid on the way.

The fifth movie of the kids from a school class in Jordbrovägen which the director has followed for over 24 years allows the now adult children through interviews talking about their lives. This is interspersed with inklipp from their everyday life and work, as well as clips from the previous movies.

An August day 1972, Rainer Hartleb stepped into a classroom in the Stockholm suburb of Jordbro and met the students in class 1D for the first time. The idea was to portray the children's way through the elementary school in one of the "new Sweden" suburbs. But the project grew and continued into the 1980s, 90s and 2000s. A curious, penetrating and tender portrait of a generation that grew up in the Swedish Million Program in the 1970s and which has become middle-aged in a globalized 2000s.

Aspudden is one of Stockholm's oldest suburbs, conceived as a model area for workers at the beginning of the last century. The Aspudden was threatened with demolition. An action group had been formed to preserve what was now neglected.

About the problems and questions that arise when a young person becomes an adult, what occupies his thoughts, what is important in meetings with other people, how he searches for his own place in life, how he handles the meeting with love and the person who becomes the most important there. When the film is shot, the rock singer Hasse is 24 years old; he lives in Stockholm. The camera follows him through his days, to the rock club, to the stage, to meetings with friends, parents and girls. He meets Johanna, who is 16, and what is called infatuation, eventually love, arises. How does Hasse now create a place for himself in life, how do they build up their community? Both are big-city children, raised in welfare Sweden, which perhaps no longer provides welfare but has created an emptiness, a meaninglessness.

A film about children growing up in the new Sweden. But it's also a film about the children's parents and their life choices, sorrows and dreams.

On 3 October 1990 DDR stopped existing as a state and became the Federal Republic of Germany. The past had been overturned. The new had not yet taken shape. The rejoicing over the fall of the Berlin wall. The bitterness and shame when the doors opened to cabinet of horrors at Stasi. Uncertainty and worry about the future. Everyone's battle against everyone for survival. In the form of a travelogue, freelancing journalist Rainer Hartleb depicts all the mixed feelings that flow from the country that no longer exists.
