Tragedy at the Royal Circus

The player and adventurer John Robert seduces Mary, a girl from the country, and takes her to the big city of Copenhagen. There, Mary realizes that John Robert is addicted to morphine and has large debts.

A middle-class man falls in love with a woman from a more ordinary background, and they end up working in a variety act where they sink into alcoholism. He then kills another man whom he mistakenly believes is a rival.

The friend of an American millionaire is supposed to bring his daughter back on his behalf. The friend and the daughter get closer.

Magda, a piano teacher, meets Knud, a parson’s son, who invites her to spend the summer at his parents’ parsonage. When a travelling circus stops in the village, Magda leaves the meek Knud for the dashing circus rider Rudolf. But circus life with Rudolf quickly turns out to be anything but happy, and Magda comes to a tragic end.

A tightrope walker from a traveling circus falls deeply in love with the mayor's daughter in a small seaside town. When he saves her from a deadly fire, his feelings are reciprocated by the young woman, who immediately accepts his marriage proposal. To spite the mayor's disapproval of the liaison between his daughter and the poor artist, the tightrope walker prepares a sensational but dangerous act, that will make him worthy of his bride. A little girl seemed to have disappeared into thin air. Fifteen years after, the true reason comes into light. Her cousin Henri makes up his mind and decides it is time for action. In order to help the girl escaping the vigilant gypsy home of 'Cirque Bartoli', both get caught and end up being chased by the gypsies. This hot pursuit - crossing sewage channels, roof tops, mountains and rivers - is an excellent piece of the girl's extraordinary acrobatic skills and Henri's bravura.

A bear tamer is hired by a traveling circus and soon gets married to a snake charmer. Not long after the wedding, the snake charmer gets involved in a variety show, and to the bear tamer’s horror, one evening he watches how she’s seduced by a rich man who takes her home. This is the oldest preserved film recorded in Iceland. It shows from a firefighting exercise that took place in Reykjavík in 1906.
