Miklós is a young, talented and thoughtful architect who is all about his work. He doesn't loiter or run after women, but he is also eager to have a happy family. When it comes to building a new villa, he falls madly in love with the future owner, Klara. She is also attracted to him, but Klara is already a bride and can't decide what she wants. In this impossible situation, Miklós seeks solace in a singer, Lola, despite his love for Klárit. Lola feels this too, and wants to attract him by any means possible...

A landowner Gáthy and his wife adopt an orphaned infant at the birth of their own son, only to realize too late that they can’t tell which baby is which. They raise both boys as their own until, on the brink of the sons’ marriages, questions of lineage brought up by prospective mothers and meddling mothers-in-law threaten to unravel their family.

When the actress he loves seems to be infatuated with a frivolous count, an actor disguises himself as the count's real interest, a wealthy Spanish woman whom the count has never seen before but wants to hoodwink into marrying him.

Kulinyi, the theatre secretary in Budapest, becomes the director of a rural theatre. He takes with him a talented, budding theatre couple, Gábor Bálint and Éva Pap. He fights a hopeless battle with drunken and jaded actors, undemanding audiences, and demands the release of their untalented relatives with creditors. Finally, tired of failure, all three return to Pest. Kulinyi resumes his post as secretary. Gábor Bálint, out of options, approaches the famous actor Ferenc Tőrös and asks him to let him play the role for one night only, so that he can prove his talent.

Dr. Kálmán Bajor, a lawyer in his fifties, falls in love with his friend's secretary, twenty-year-old Turkish Vali. Valit seduces his young suitor and asks her to marry him. The lawyer's daughter Mimi does not look kindly on the marriage, but she cannot dissuade her father. So she solves the matter with a woman's logic. Apparently in love with her father's friend, she gets engaged to Uncle Árpád, also over fifty. But the game turns serious, and Uncle Árpád really falls in love with the pretty girl.

Pataky Elemér arrives in the capital as a victim in his niece's divorce case. Having to meet the lawyer dr. Orbói István is, however, an alibi in an effort to get away from his quarrelsome wife, and to have some fun at the same time. He takes the lawyer with him.

The son of a wealthy landowner, Miklós Pálfalvy, who leads a frivolous life, becomes involved in forging bills of exchange. The forged paper falls into the hands of his future father-in-law, banker Mihályi, who blackmails the young man. Miklós breaks up with Mihályi and decides to go abroad with the rest of his money. Before he leaves, he visits Jessy, a beautiful florist girl with whom he has been attracted for some time. After a nice day together, Nicholas is arrested and sent to prison. In despair, he attempts suicide, but later, when he starts working in the prison blacksmith's shop on the advice of the chaplain, the welcome fatigue of hard work and the sober philosophy of the blacksmith heal his soul. After his release, he breaks with his social class, works as a blacksmith and marries Jessy, who has been faithfully waiting for him.
