A criminal from south Tel-Aviv is released from prison to a new reality, his girlfriend left him for his mafia's boss, and his friends think he's an informer.

"On Air" (aka "Zman Avir") is a 1999 Israeli film directed and written by Isaac Zepel Yeshurun. The film is an allegory of the complex Israeli society and tells the story of a former member of the Shin-Bet with family problems who leaves on a secret mission.

Shaul and Rami are best friends, 40 years old. Both are in unhappy marriages, but Rami has found comfort in the arms of a Russian immigrant with whom he's having an affair.

A large family travels through Israel by bus to attend a young man's gradution from army training. The film explores the sharp contrast between the expatriates' views of Israel and the reality.

A Kibutz in Israel is heavily in debt. In a last effort to produce a viable financial restructuring, the old, "unproductive" members are asked to leave the kibutz, to make room for younger, more productive new members. Among those destined to leave is Shraga. His marriage to Clara is loveless while he desperately loves Bracha, his late brother's widow. Clara dreams of starting afresh with her husband in an old age home, in the far north of the country. Bracha on the other hand refuses to remain a mere no. 2. Shraga is asked to make a decision. Other family members are forced into joining this unresolvable conflict.

The plot revolves around a married couple experiencing a midlife crisis, with ups and downs in their relationship and with their children. The film was selected as the Israeli entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 56th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Enrike, a young Israeli boarding-school student, falls in love with Malka, the most popular girl in his class. Malka tires of their relationship and takes up with Shalom, Enrike's best friend.
