Girl friends – Freundschaft mit Herz is a German television series.

It seems as if Lena is a Sunday child: successful in her job and heiress to a hotel. What is strange, however, is that she doesn't know the man who left her a legacy in his will. She travels to the Thuringian town of Saalfeld to take a look at her inheritance and initially decides to sell the hotel. However, when the situation in the company changes for her, she changes her mind and accepts her inheritance in full. But running a hotel requires more than self-confidence and cleverness, as she soon realizes.

Eva Simon is actually a woman who can not be shaken by anything: Together with the family of her son Theo, she lives contentedly on a former farm in the picturesque Rheingau, where she practically does the housework on her own and takes care of her grandchildren Lilli and Nico, while Theo and his wife Marlene pursue their professions. Thanks to bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps, the planned short trip to the stormy Odyssey.

Antonia Wiedemann has built a new life for herself after the painful divorce from her husband Ludwig. In her animal boarding kennel in the countryside, she looks after everything that creeps and flies. Veterinarian Dr. Rafael Hansen even entrusts her with a jumping horse that its owner was about to take to the slaughterhouse. Antonia has a unique instinct for animals, but she prefers to avoid Rafael's cautious advances.

At Phoenixsee, an artificial lake in the southern part of Dortmunds, two worlds collide between modern apartments for the rich while the old-established working class is living just a few blocks away. The newly-rich Hansmann family just moved here from Düsseldorf while the Neuraths have been living in Dortmund for their whole life. As their children are attending the same school and play in the same soccer team, the families and their problems become entangled.
