Desperate Road

Five short films by five directors based on themes of love and tolerance, each independent of the other. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Efes Pilsen. The collection includes five short films: Ömer Kavur's "The Meeting," İrfan Tözüm's "Monte Cristo," Yusuf Kurçenli's "Because I Love Her," Erden Kıral's "Moon Stories," and Zeki Ökten's "Always the Same."

When their father is killed in a blood feud, Yusuf and Kenan, two shepherd boys, flee to Istanbul in search of their uncle. They become involved with the streetboys, and Yusuf turns to crime although Kenan wants to learn a trade.

It's night on a Paris bridge. A girl leans over Seine River with tears in her eyes and a violent yearning to drown her sorrows. Out of nowhere someone takes an interest in her. He is Gabor, a knife thrower who needs a human target for his show. The girl, Adele, has never been lucky and nowhere else to go. So she follows him. They travel along the northern bank of the Mediterranean to perform.

The story of a provincial woman named Vasfiye, whose life passed changing hands and drifting between men in Aegean towns, is told by different narrators. The story changes every time the narrator changes. However, it is not known which story is the truth.

The story of a man who believes he's been presented with a new life where he witnesses his son's resurrection.

The story of Leyla, who starts a new life with her daughter after her husband cheats on her.

Zebercet is an obsessive man living a monotonous life in a hotel with few customers. This monotonous life changes with the arrival of a woman who does not even give her name. She stays only one night in the room she has rented and leaves the hotel to come back a week later.

Aygül is an unhappy woman who is trying to raise her four children without the help of her unemployed, no-good husband. She starts working in a factory and this becomes the igniter of her consciousness-raising process.

A woman is searching for a face in photographs taken by a photographer. The face she hopes to meet one day belongs to a watch repairman, but the shop has long since closed.

A confused script writer takes refuge in the ruins of a Byzantine church at a remote village while looking for locations for his next film.

Nalan reminds Murat of his wife who died in the lake. After a while, Murat convinces himself that Nalan is his dead wife, Sabiha. Murat loses his sense of reality when a new man gets involved.

Kamil, who earns his living as a long-distance truck driver, falls in love with Cevahir, whom he meets at a brothel he visits with his friends, and rents a house for her. Their goal is to get married. However, their financial situation is not sufficient for such a marriage. Kamil accepts a friend's offer to engage in smuggling in order to build a better life.

Ömer Kavur's first film Yatik Emine (Emine, The Leaning One), relates the story, set in the years of World War I, of a prostitute exiled in a small town.

Fuat is forced into an "advantegeous" marriage to a rich girl due to his family financial lowness. He, however loves another, Aysel. After he loses his best friend, Bedri, to suicide, he rebels against the system with heartbreaking results.

Meral is a divorced mother living with her six-year-old daughter Elif. One day, Elif disappears. Despite all efforts to search for her, she in not found. Meral’s former husband and lawyer Turgay take part in the search. During their investigation, Meral and Turgay become clo ser. A love relationship starts between these two loners.

A Turkish watchmaker is employed to mend a village clock that has not worked for some seven years. However, what seems like a simple and un-exciting task is plunged into a web of mystery and intrigue when the watchmaker innocently witnesses the murder of a beautiful woman on his first day in the village.
