"Katharina Knie" is a 1929 German silent drama film directed by Karl Grune and starring Eugen Klöpfer, Carmen Boni and Adele Sandrock. It is based on the 1928 play of the same title by Carl Zuckmayer.

A dance teacher helps his ten well-bred student sisters when they leave home as a protest against their father's intended wedding. They form a café group called Die lustigen Weiber aus Wien (The merry Viennese girls).

Biggi is about to take her high school diploma. To avoid an impending chemistry exam, she fakes an illness. She obtains the necessary certificate from the handsome doctor Dr. Weiringk. She promptly falls in love with her savior and marries him. However, as the young wife of a busy doctor, Biggi soon feels abandoned. Professor Dr. Weiringk, her father-in-law, thinks little of her. She says she's only distracting his son from his homework. That's just one of the reasons for her decision to retake her high school diploma. Biggi secretly goes back to school. The double life as wife and student proves to be exhausting.

The violin virtuoso Ferdinand Lohner is lonely and depressed after the death of his wife. One day, Irene’s cousin Gustl comes on a visit and Mrs. Leuthoff takes the opportunity to “accidentally” let slip to Ferdinand, that his current wife is a whore. As if living with your current mother-in-law isn’t enough to deal with!

Best friends David and Philip have to end their love affair with their mistress Aimée which they - not knowing of each other - share, because they are going to marry their sweethearts Gaby and Viola. Of course Aimée will not accept her defeat. She interferes the engagement of Gaby and David, which lead to some turbulence and change of horses before they all end up in their honeymoon.

A woman is put on trial for murdering a musician who ruined her marriage.

Nicky and Vicky, two librettists who also happen to be brothers, are presently in collaboration with composer Toni.
