Follows the life of the famous German politician, writer, and communist activist, Gustav Regler, from his birth in 1898, in the Saar, through the two World Wars and his many travels, until his death in 1963 in India.

On the advice of a doctor, mentally challenged parents Petra and Martin Kaminski apply to the youth welfare office for early intervention for their daughter Lona. Wolfgang Stein spends years in Bautzen prison for attempting to flee the republic. He was ransomed by the West German government in 1971 and ended up in a reception camp in Unna. There he falls in love with a nurse, Anne, with whom he soon moves in together, who becomes pregnant by him and whom he soon marries. One day, an old friend, Dieter Michaelis, a fellow prisoner from Bautzen, comes to the reception center and asks Stein to work as an escape helper for his brother-in-law living in the GDR.

A Time Prophet predicted that Kai would be the one to destroy the divine order in the league of the 20,000 planets, someday that will happen, but not today. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

Katrin also slips into the role of an agent on a secret mission - "real" life is left out of this exciting flirtation.

Heinz Gödicke is the chief commissioner of the People's Police in the small town of Eberswalde in Brandenburg. Gödicke is called when two bestial murdered children are found in the forest. The investigator tries to get involved in the perpetrators - a rarely used method at the People's Police - and the perpetrator so on the track. The Stasi-Major Witt is no friend of this procedure and leaves the commissioner only reluctantly free hand in the investigation. The matter does not go to the authorities fast enough and is then simply put to the files. When another murder occurs, it becomes clear that Gödicke was much closer to the enlightenment of the act than everyone thought.

As things settle down on the Lexx, the crew realizes Kai needs a constant supply of proto-blood to continue to function in the real world. Stanley and the others undertake a desperate mission to Kai's wrecked home world in search of a way to extend Kai's existence.
