Secretary Benedicte Holst walks into Vestre Cemetery on her way home from work. And disappears without a trace. Helmer and Sigurdson soon have a murder to deal with. Benedicte is found dead, drugged with ether before drowning. And after another female secretary is reported missing, the police fear they are facing a serial killer. Can they prevent him from striking again?

We are in NRK’s Nine O’Clock News studio at Marienlyst. As usual, Kjell Tue is at the microphone, and in the control room, Totto Osvold is at the helm. Bank manager Hugo Oswald is to be interviewed live, but suddenly collapses dead in the studio, poisoned in front of an open microphone. Police detectives Helmer and Sigurdson are assigned to the case. Pensioner Brockmann, the murdered bank manager’s neighbour, also becomes heavily involved in the investigation.

The story takes place in a hedmark built during some summer weeks.

An Israeli woman arrives in Oslo to give a lecture at the University. She meets a middle-aged journalist who takes her on a sightseeing tour in Munch's footsteps, a journey that develops into a love story.

A man carries his wife down into the freezer in the basement. It is the painter Alex, who has killed his wife Christina. Helen is on the run from her impending silver wedding anniversary. She collapses onto the sofa at Alex's house, on his peaceful little farm, far away from people. Here, all you can hear is the faint thumping of a fishing boat on the fjord and the sound of a freezer starting and stopping at regular intervals.

Pelle's father joins an activist group and Pelle has to face up to his father.

Journalist Tore Haugen returns to Norway from the United States. He falls in love with journalist Tore Næss and soon discovers that he has been hired by the same newspaper as her. Næss shows outstanding qualities and develops into a star reporter, while Haugen is mediocre. When they have a child together, the question arises as to who should sacrifice their career to stay home with the child. Haugen soon finds himself comfortable in the role of stay-at-home dad.

One day, Laffen, a family man, homeowner, and watchmaker, overhears his 17-year-old son lecturing his younger siblings. He gives them a shocking analysis of their poor father. The father puts on his workout clothes and goes for a jog in the neighborhood, to the amusement of his neighbors and the despair of his family. After a lucky shot, he wins the gold medal in athletics.
