A Spiral of Mist

Inspired by a real-life event that took place in Calabria at the end of World War 2, the film is the story of a young farmer who led peasants to revolt, after being falsely accused of murder.

A group of rich young intellectuals hiding from the war in rural Italy play at being partisans when some disbanded soldiers and some refugees ask them for shelter in their villa. The young and aristocratic Andrea strikes up a friendship with a peasant girl, Lucia. Then the Germans suddenly appear, looking for the real partisans, and the time comes for serious decisions.

Marcello is a dwarf who is kept hidden by his family and falls in love with a prostitute from the local brothel. The prostitute's lover plots to kill the dwarf but she helps him to escape, though at a cost to her own well-being.
