Contrabando is an adventure film. The film tells of the millionaire Hernández who smuggles weapons from the United States into Mexico. He does this because he is planning an uprising. The hotel attendant Carlos is informed of this. Hernández and his troops are defeated by the army. Carlos is acquitted and can marry his lover Lolita. The film Contrabando was shot in locations on the border with the United States, such as Tijuana, Ensenada and Playas de Rosarito. It was shot in Spanish and in English under the title Contraband. The role of Lolita was cast for the English version with Dorothy Sebastian. Contrabando's plot was inspired by an actual 1929 rebellion led by José Gonzalo Escobar.

Early "shockumentary", apparently shot in Egypt, which documents the habits of opium addicts. The interiors of drug dens are shown, and at the conclusion the film an addict is shown collapsing on a sand dune; the booming voice of the narrator informs us that the addict has perished. Footage used is from the silent film Dope Fiends.

An ex-vaudeville actor is working as the assistant to a doctor who has Frankenstein aspirations. The ex-vaudeville actor kills the doctor and decides to assume the identity of the dead physician.

A young girl named Burma attends a beach party with her boyfriend and after she smokes marijuana with a bunch of other girls, she gets pregnant and another girl drowns while skinny dipping in the ocean. Burma and her boyfriend go to work for the pusher in order to make money so they can get married. However, during a drug deal her boyfriend is killed leaving Burma to fend for herself. Burma then becomes a major narcotics pusher in her own right after giving up her baby for adoption.

A once-promising doctor begins a downward spiral, finding himself in opium dens, a carnival freak show, and drugs parties.

After history’s most uncomfortable bridge game, two couples retire to their respective homes where the wives each undress incrementally before stepping in the bath. While one harangues her husband about his losing bridge game and failing career, the other offers her man reassuring compliments and soothing come ons.
