Years after the original Backdraft, Sean, son of the late Steve "Bull" McCaffrey, is assigned to investigate a deadly fire only to realize it is something much more sinister.

The disastrous meltdown of a nuclear power plant in Northern Spain created a contaminated no-go zone and left the nearby provincial city and inhabitants in a state of shock and mourning. Three years later, while the city prepares for the commemoration ceremony, a mutilated body is found in a warehouse. Police inspector Hector Uria's search for the murderer takes him deep into the no-go zone and into his own past.

Lonely mechanic Alex spends his nights killing stranded motorists calling his garage for help. One night while eating in a restaurant, he is beaten by two thieves who flee with a hostage.

Yet, the heart of the film lies beyond the disease itself; it is a narrative of hope celebrating the power and perseverance of the human spirit, embodied and personified by these characters and their ability to triumph spectacularly against all odds.

Until she decides to do something. Director López Gallego, who also wrote the screenplay, brings us another example of the excellence of Spanish horror and mystery cinema, with great performances by Alba Galocha and Denís Gomez. One of the scariest and most intriguing features of the year.
