Yumi, a 23-year-old office worker, is fired from her job out of the blue. A few days later, coming from a friend's wedding and having no time to change out of her kimono, she is rushing to an interview for a job at a publishing company. Yumi stumbles into the room, looking for somewhere to change out of her kimono, and finds popular comic book writer Reijiro Sakurai is having an editorial meeting with some staff. He is planning to lock himself away at a hot spring for the next three months to concentrate on his next project. Sakurai comments that if Yumi were to join him he wouldn't mind being away for so long..., and so their adventure begins.

A year has passed since his girlfriend, Momoko Kanzaki, left for America. Ryosuke Imai has been waiting for her, but he hasn't heard from her since. Despite meeting new women, Ryosuke continues to cherish his memories of Momoko. One autumn night, Ryosuke boards the last ferry from Kawasaki Port to Kisarazu, where he reunites with Momoko, who was supposed to be in America. However, Momoko has a new boyfriend, Yokoyama Ken, sitting next to her...

It is from the widower Kurosaki who had been a friend to Chiyo's deceased husband. Kurosaki runs a small company and has no children but has enough life savings. However, second daughter Tomoe, and youngest child, Yoko, are opposed to it. The siblings begin to argue. Meanwhile, Kurosaki tells his sister Namiko that he has decided to remarry. She is furious because he refuses to tell her anything about Chiyo. Thus, she takes it upon herself to find out about Chiyo and soon has a confrontation with her. Around that time, Kurosaki’s company is about to go bankrupt...
