An Optimistic Tragedy

About the fate of a communist, who has come a long and difficult life from a simple worker to the director of the largest automobile plant. The prototype of the main character was the image of I. A. Likhachov (1896-1956) - the director of the Moscow Automobile Plant (ZiL).

In one of the occupied European cities, the commandant of the garrison gathers a troupe of circus performers. Coming from different countries, they are in the humiliating position of people forced to serve their enslavers. Many of them, recruited from camps and workhouses, were quite content with their lot. Only after a chain of subsequent events, the artists raise an uprising. Unarmed people are not able to resist the arrived guards. They die, but at the cost of their lives they regain their lost human dignity.

It was she who was approached by the underground with a request to ransom a man from a prisoner-of-war camp. The young woman was shocked by what she saw in the camp - and not finding the man she was looking for, Olga ransomed the young man, calling him her husband. The soldier, as soon as he got stronger, began to rush into battle. And when he died, Olga joined the fight against the Nazis.

Fitil is a popular Soviet/Russian television satirical/comedy short film series which ran for about 500 episodes. Some of the episodes were aimed at children, and were called Фитилёк, Fitilyok, Little Fuse. Each issue contained from the few short segments: documentary, fictional and animated ones. Directed by various artists, including Leonid Gaidai who presented his famous trio of Nikulin, Vitsin and Morgunov into the cast. It was called in USSR as "the anecdotes from the Soviet government".

Exciting basketball matches, the nobility of a Soviet athlete who saved the life of a Greek basketball player, the anxiety of first love-all these and other events make up the plot of the film.

One evening, in the company of his friends, the bachelor Stas for the sake of entertainment called the number, the numbers of which were called by his friends, putting a comic condition: “If a woman answers, you marry her.” A really pleasant female voice responded. Stas didn't dare to admit his company in this, again wanted to hear it, but couldn't remember the phone number. Then he asked everyone to remember their number. Having got acquainted with Lyudmila, Stas realizes that she is the woman of his dreams.

In 1942, local teenagers are organizing the underground resistance in the city of Krasnodon during the Nazi occupation of Russia. The teens manage to outsmart the Nazis in their fight, and their activity lifts the spirits of the surviving citizens.
