H. Amir inherited the title of "Tuan Guru" from his grandfather, making him a revered figure in the Pemenang community. The religious teachings and sermons he leads, regularly held at his home, have garnered a significant following. On the other hand, North Lombok is internationally known for its three "Gili Islands": Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan, which have become global tourist destinations. These three islands serve as gateways for various cultures from around the world, either clashing with or integrating into the local community. Imam Hujattul Islam, a man with a passion for painting like other Pemenang youths, seeks his identity amidst the vibrant cultural exchanges in this region. Yet, he also carries the lineage of a Tuan Guru, a legacy that shapes his journey of self-discovery.

Om Pius is a native Papuan from the Keerom mountains who has been living and residing with communities of various ethnicities in the coastal area of Sentani, Jayapura, since the post-Act of Free Choice in the 70s. For more than 30 years, he has been a ‘mountain man’ living with a coastal culture. The history of population displacement, violence in Papua, natural wealth, longing for the homeland, romantic past, war, hopes, and dreams, are the life stories of Om Pius which he manifests through the lottery.

Those characters are portraits of young generation from post Reformation in 1998 where Indonesia was a country which had been reigned by military regime before, and turn to be a large democratic country in the world.
