The Custodian

What would American democracy look like in the hands of teenage girls? In this documentary, young female leaders from wildly different backgrounds in Missouri navigate an immersive experiment to build a government from the ground up.

Rosa, 60, has waited ten years for her daughter, Esperanza, to be released from incarceration. The extended families' unexpected Welcome Home party crashes the mother/daughter reunion but the families' joyous celebration also comes crashing to an end as Rosa realizes that Esperanza is not the daughter she remembers.
