Known as the "gardener of the forest," the tapir plays an essential role in environmental regeneration by dispersing seeds and directly contributing to the creation and maintenance of biodiversity. Traversing five Brazilian biomes, the film highlights not only the challenges facing the species—such as deforestation, habitat fragmentation, and road accidents—but also the lives intertwined in the effort to conserve it. The narrative follows researchers, field assistants, local communities, and volunteers who sustain a continuous, tireless effort of care and conservation on a daily basis. Key figures in the film include Patrícia Medici and field assistant José Maria Aragão—known as Zé—who has been part of INCAB’s work for decades.
