The film explores the biography of Taras Shevchenko, the "Kobzar," or more precisely, three editions of his works that were published during his lifetime in 1841, 1844, and 1860. It also highlights related issues, such as the emergence of the alphabet, the textual studies of Shevchenko's works and his friendly correspondence, his first trip to Ukraine, his arrest, and his last journey in 1860, censorship, and secret surveillance. All of these are closely intertwined with the biography of the "Kobzar." In addition, the biographical facts in this book reveal the emergence of an independent modern Ukrainian identity.

Their stories chronicle not only the birth and twilight of a particular kind of corner store, but also decades of personal lives intertwined with those of their communities, the new challenges and facilities of a rapidly changing world, and an enduring love of the movies, a slice of Americana on the brink of disappearance yet defiant to the end.

At a party with friends, student Kristina meets Ivan, a graduate student from her university. She brings him home with her. The next morning, Ivan meets Kristina’s mother, Nadezhda.

February 2022. At a family dinner in the home of Terentiy Puzyr, tensions are rising: his son-in-law Mykhailo is preparing for war, and Puzyr does not believe him. Daughter Sonya spends the resources of the agricultural company on terrorist defense, and has no grandchildren. On February 24, the explosions mark the beginning of the invasion. Sonya persuades her parents to evacuate, but they refuse. The bridge is closed by the Ukrainian army, and the family is cut off. Russian troops enter the agricultural company. Puzyr is forced to choose between collaboration and protecting the community.

A rifle battalion consisting of 18-year-old cadets, led by a general, covered the bridge from Gostomel to Kyiv, which was perhaps the only likely place for a Russian breakthrough. On February 25, 2022, the students fought their first battle with enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, unaware of the actual number of enemy forces and equipment. For almost a month, the cadets resisted Russian attempts to find weak spots in their defenses.

The story of two boys, best friends, who are both madly in love with a beauty of the village. This love is a big challenge for their friendship. What is more, they can no longer withstand the third competitor. A young man in a military uniform appears (the story is set in the postwar period). He immediately “gets down to business” in the hayloft. The two losers decide to commit suicide and thus punish the treacherous Nuska.

This poignant story tells of Nina Petrivna, a native of Zhytomyr, who sent her only son off to war. Despite all the hardships of life, she still tries to live on for the sake of her family. Later, the woman learns that her son, volunteer Vasyl Shvidchenko, has been taken prisoner in the occupied territory. The main character is forced to go into the unknown in search of her child, straight into the enemy's trap. On her way, she will encounter disappointment, fear, and despair. She will repeatedly hear a lot of harsh criticism from those around her. But will they break the woman's hope for a long-awaited reunion with her child, with whom she has lost such an important connection? And will the mother finally rescue her son?
