In Peru, Sergio García Locatelli visits both those places where human life is fragile and personal fate is uncertain and those where death reigns, places where everything is already lost, where appeal is not possible. A walk in search of the meaning of death that is actually a celebration of life and the living.

We are in the heights of the Peruvian Andes, more than 5000 meters above sea level, where Celestino a peasant hermit undertakes a healing journey with his cow Samichay, from the loneliness and height of the Andes to the chaos of urbanization and villages.

Burnt Beam portrays the modern slavery that persists in precarious work within the capitalist system. Based on the testimony of Berta Huamán, mother of one of the young men who died in a fire after being locked inside by their employer, the short film reconstructs the structural violence that enabled the tragedy, marked by abuse, corruption, and negligence. The film becomes an act of remembrance and denunciation of a system that normalizes human sacrifice.

Ousmane Sow is an immigrant of Senegalese origin in Madrid, fully established and with documents in order, which allows him to get a job and reside legally in Spain, unlike many of his compatriots. Despite this, the social fracture that exists between the daily struggle for survival and personal fulfillment has him tied to precarious jobs.

Peru, 2020. The pandemic closed the borders, shut down the skies and plunged us into an infinite pause. Three years without sun, trapped in a static routine. But although the streets were deserted and silence covered the city, traffic never stopped.
