31-year-old Urara Iwasaki (Kyoko Fukada) makes an error during her first trial as an attorney which hurts her client. Urara Iwasaki thinks law isn't right for her and she quits her job. She now has a debt of 4 million yen and earns a living by doing part-time work. Meanwhile, Rinka Ebisawa (Shinobu Terajima) is a competent lawyer, but its revealed she used excessive ways in her cases and is dismissed from her law firm and disbarred. She can't work as a lawyer anymore. By chance, Rinka meets Urara.

Nozomi Kuroda is in the 2nd grade of high school. One day, she finds a letter in a classroom desk. The letter has only the word "like" written on it. The person who wrote the letter is Jun Setoyama. He happens to be the most popular boy at the high school. Nozomi Kuroda feels embarrassed, but she eventually leaves a reply in a shoe closet at school. This is how their secret exchange diary begins. Nozomi Kuroda soon learns that the intended recipient for the first letter was her best friend. Nevertheless, Nozomi Kuroda is attracted to Jun Setoyama, who expresses his thoughts and feelings unlike her. She's unable to tell him the truth that the person exchanging messages is her and not her best friend.

The Mobile Investigative Unit (known as "MIU") of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department attempts to solve cases within 24 hours. Detective Kazumi Shima is selected as a new member of MIU. He is intelligent, with excellent observation and communication skills. Yet, he does not trust other people. He is unable to find a partner in MIU and is ordered to partner with Police Officer Ai Ibuki, who works at a police substation. Ibuki applied for MIU, but he failed. He is in excellent physical condition, but he lacks knowledge and experience as a detective. Shima learns about Ibuki's background and he becomes more nervous. Finally, Shima has his first meeting with Ibuki.

Higashiyama Yui works as a director at Net Heroes, a web production company. Due to her workaholic father and bad experiences in the past, she loathes working overtime. Akiho Takeda is assigned to #3 investigation team for The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. On her first day at work, a burglary takes place at a jewelry store in Shibuya. The case though is taken by the #1 investigation team which Akiho hoped to join. Nevertheless, Akiho goes secretly to the jewelry store where the theft took place. Later, a safe at a jewelry store in Roppongi is broken into. Stolen from the safe is the diamond called "Besu". The "Besu" is one of three diamonds that makes up the "Kuraida Family's Three Sisters". The other two diamonds are "Ani" and "Kyasari". The diamond "Ani" was stolen from the jewelry store in Shibuya, that occurred a few days earlier. Several people believe the two diamond thefts were done by the same person(s), but Akiho mentions the techniques used by thieves are different. Yet, Akiho believes there must be a connection between the two cases.

"Gakkô no Kaidan" is an original horror drama, with the members of SKE48 playing main roles throughout the 15 episodes. It's the first adaptation in 11 years and supervised by Tôru Tsunemitsu (the author of the original books).

Shiho Murakami is a housewife who struggles to raise her 2-year-old daughter and complete her housework. She happens to meet and interact with various people such as a working mother, an elite bureaucrat, who all have similar problems related to housework.

Kanbara Kiko is a divorcee and raises her 5-year-old son alone. To open a box lunch food store, she moves to her grandfather's house. She tries to enroll her son Haruto into nursery school there, but a person in charge of the district office tells her Haruto can't attend immediately. Kiko, busy to open her box lunch food store by next month, finds herself in a predicament with her son not having supervision by then. At this time, a director of a kindergarten school, Fune Naraoka, talks to Kiko.

The school’s cool, prince-like heroine has never questioned her role—until a fellow “Prince” enters her life and sees her as more than a hero, awakening feelings she’s never faced before.
