Karuppaswamy, a widowed night watchman, lives in a small town in Tamil Nadu with his sister and three nephews. While returning from his shift one morning, he breaks his hip in an accident. Though his nephews want him to be treated in town, his son Senthil takes him to their ancestral village to be healed by a traditional healer. After a few days, Karuppaswamy dies. At the funeral, one of his nephews hears something that makes their blood run cold...

There is something comical and pathetic about Percy, an awkward young man of 28, living alone with his aged mother in an old house tucked away in the Parsi colony in Bombay -- a very middle-class setting. Though Banubai, Percy's mother, utterly dominates Percy's life, she does so with love and kindness. Percy holds a clerical position in a small Unani pharmacy, famous for its sexual restoratives. It is only at his place of work, where he wields some power, that Percy displays a measure of authority and self-assurance. One day, Percy discovers a fraud in the office accounts, as a consequence of which one of the junior employees is sacked. This event has far-reaching consequences in the lives of Percy and Banubai. Percy's peace is soon to be shattered.

While Ricardo Fernandes leaves Australia to travel to Bombay in search of his missing brother, Roger. And finally, Zeres Mistry, from London also travels to Bombay to find his true love. The paths of all three NRIs cross in the taxi to Colaba, and they decide to stick together. They find an apartment, owned by a gay landlord, Pesi Shroff, who openly and lovingly eyes a visibly uncomfortable Zeres. Things do not go well for Kris as he is asked by Filmmaker, Don Mastana, to act in a movie that is slated to be the worst movie in Bollywood history. Ricardo finds himself at the mercy of the local police, who make it clear to him that they have better things to do than look for his missing brother. It is only a matter of time before the hapless trio to realize that their respective hopes and dreams are soon to turn to hopelessness and nightmares - from which there is no escape.

Preman is the caretaker of a flat at Cochin. Everyone in the flat calls him 'Natholi'. He faces some unfortunate events in the flat and begins to write a story with the same characters in his real life and plays with their lives in his story. The film revolves around the story of the conflict between Preman and the character he creates. He has lost his control over the character he creates and the movie plots ahead with the interaction between them.
