Sanshiro and Mine, an elderly couple whose factory has gone bankrupt, are taken in by their daughter and son, respectively. Meanwhile, their eldest daughter spends her days acting in a struggling theater troupe. However, in reality, it's a series of lazy days filled with entanglements with men. With nowhere else to go, the two promise to reunite in Tokyo, a place full of memories, each with a certain thought in their hearts.
