One's Own Arrangement

A slightly deaf girl named Tonka lives with alone with her father and is still unmarried. Aside from her handicap, Tonka’s physical appearance is not grand either, which makes difficult for her to attract men and start a romantic relationship. Then she becomes the subject of town’s malicious gossip.

Based on an eponymous novel by Veljko Kovačević. the series is focused on historical events and personalities from the uprisings in Gorski Kotar and the Croatian Littoral in the Second World War.

It happens around Zagreb in 1941-1943, during World War II. Two groups of smugglers led by Crni Rok and Veriga, fight for supremacy on the black market. They also have to deal with the Germans, Ustashas, the police and communist illegals.

A nostalgic reunion briefly arises when three estranged siblings spend some time together in their childhood home where their father is on his dead-bed. A glimpse of a new fellowship between the three of them.

A bus traveling from Belgrade to Zagreb is involved in a tragic accident when a reckless driver causes a catastrophic collision on a rainy night, leading to the tragic deaths of several passengers.

In the twenties of the last century, after funeral of the bank advisor, relatives gathered in a tavern near the Mirogoj cemetery, an opportunity to solve some old and uncleared bills .

The main character is a young man who lives with his poor mother in Zagreb. He holds no job and is barely making ends meet in the overwhelming post-war poverty. They have a tenant named John. He is constantly full of money, which, allegedly, comes to him from America. The plot develops when John suggests to the young man that they rob the safe of a person known as Compadre, the same man who sent very youngster to be shot during the war, but he survived by sheer chance...

We live with films every day, and it seems nothing easier than answering the question: what is a film? Obviously, a film is, first and foremost, a document, a testimony of the world that surrounds us. The rich expressional possibilities of film are based on the imperfection of the human eye, its sluggishness, so thanks to the stroboscopic effect we can animate a still image. Film is therefore a kinetic image, or a moving image. It can make the invisible visible, bring the distant closer, enlarge the small, speed up the slow, slow down the fast, and return the end to the beginning. Journalist Irena is very busy and in constant motion, so she spends Sunday at work. Irena went to a book exhibition on a sunny Sunday morning, and the day ends with a fashion show. She will interview a prominent Slovenian writer, a film actress and a model.

An armed robbery with murder was committed in the downtown of Zagreb. That event will have significant consequences on the unusual relationship between a distinguished politician and a young bon vivant, who is connected to a robbed company.
