The father is accompanied by his traumatized and mute eight-year-old son whom he had to kidnap from a Riga hospital. Together, the two flee towards Holland where the father Yuris hopes to find his long-lost friend Marie, whom he remembers as a great beauty. During the long journey, father and son have several funny adventures, many of which occur because neither father nor son speak much Dutch. They finally arrive at Marie's door empty-handed. What they find, gives them little hope, for the lithe young idealist of Yuris' dreams has become middle-aged and cynical.

For centuries, they have been stared at by millions of eyes: the painted figures in Rembrandt van Rijn's Night Watch. What do they actually think? How did they feel about posing for the painter? And are they satisfied with the canvas?

A factory worker is employed in the desolate, cold-storage cellars of a brewery. His spare time he devotes to collecting romantic images of wild flowers and sticking newspaper cuttings in an album, demonstrating a preference for more gruesome stories. Murders, rapes and acts of violence are the events which accompany his everyday existence and invest it with a tinge of color.

Liesje’s parents are divorced. She lives in a nice house with her mother and grandpa. Liesje writes letters to her father who lives in Rio de Janeiro. At least, that’s what her mother has told her. After Liesje’s grandpa passes away, she begins to miss her father more and more. She decides to go visit him in Rio. To get money for the flight, she sells the stamp collection she was given by her grandpa. Without her mother knowing, she boards the plane to Brazil alone – but then she finds out the truth about her father.

Follow three friends through their many years of intensive training to become fighter pilots with the Royal Netherlands Air Force and as they graduate and carry out a dangerous mission in the Middle East.

March 11th, 2002. John R. takes the head of security and 17 others hostage in Amsterdam biggest skyscraper. John R. demands to speak with the Philips head of Sound&Vision. His goal is to warn people about a large-scale fraud, aimed at brainwashing consumers by means of widescreen TV sets. In the film, we find out about John's preliminary frustrations, his bizarre encounter with Philips head of Sound&Vision Gerard Wesselinck, their impossible friendship, rivalry and John's armed attempt to force the executive to do penance in public.

A veterinarian lives together with his sister and her son in a small village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. He has to cope with gossip and distrust from the villagers.

Amateur dirt-bikers Rien and Hans–and their mechanic Eef–each fall in love with Fientje, a young woman who, with her brother Jaap, works a concession stand at the races. Everyone seeks a better life: Fientje wants out of the business and away from Jaap; and Rien and Hans aim to make their marks as pro racers, like their hero, Gerrit Witkamp.
