The Tragic Fantasy: Tiger of Wanchai

A con artist falls in love with a respectable nightclub girl but romance is overshadowed by deception.

South Africa’s diamond king, Jue Gung, neglected his loved ones and decided to return to Hong Kong for the New Year. His family attempts to gain favor with him, in hopes of inheriting some of his wealth.

Tai Chi (Francis Ng), who is from a tiny Chinese village, moves to Western Central Hong Kong - the big city - with ambitions of becoming a private detective. In his new flat, he discovers 99 unopened letters with their stamps cut. He reads them and discovers they are for his beautiful neighbor Lok To from her boyfriend Gala in France...but for some reason she has never received any of them. Unable to tell Lok To that he has read such intimate letters, he decides to try and help reunite the lovers in another way...He buys the nearby bakery and hires her as an assistant. Things get complicated when he begins to fall for Lok To himself, and Gala returns from France with another woman.

Third Master Sha (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai) is a descendant of a powerful gambling family who must battle Yam Tin Sau (Ekin Cheng), the descendant of the rival gambling family to save his family's name. In order to win, Hui hires the China King of Gamblers Hui Man Long (Tony Leung Ka-fai) for help.

Young gay men in Hong Kong. Hoi, Fa, and Kau have been friends since Third Form. They're now young gay adults sharing an apartment. Fa, who writes film scripts, has recently been jilted and is heart-broken. Hoi, who works at an ad agency where he's in the closet, is pursued by Fok May, a female colleague. Kau, effeminate and outgoing, is humiliated in public by his father in front of his brother and sister. He goes on TV to make a plea for acceptance. Under the shadow of AIDS and of prejudice, May and the three guys live out their friendships.
