Kuen is a lounge singer on Temple Street. Her son Kakei, now a university student, returns to Hong Kong for just a few days after emigrating to Canada with his father. Kuen's colleague Kit has to work overnight and enlists Kuen’s help to take care of her young son. During the sleepless night, Kuen and Ka-kei relive their past and envisage their future through another pair of mother and son. Under the bright sun, the cycle of life and family relationships continue, made all the more touching by the nuanced moments of care and concern between each other. SHAM Ka-ki of Weeds On Fire plays the son and renders a tender and layered performance full of subtlety.

Lai-sing, full of aspirations as a journalist, lives in Hong Kong with his sister Kei-mei. Their parents live in Hainan since retirement while Uncle Guoyou lives in Shenzhen. The family is separated until the third anniversary of the death of Lai-sing's grandmother. According to tradition, a monument has to be erected on this occasion, which brings the family members to meet up. The reunion slowly unveils the indiscernible distances and intimacies built over time. It is only through understanding and acceptance that they would cast aside their differences and show genuine care for each other.

It was raining non-stop when Hong Kong was rocked by the tumultuous events of October 2014 (the "umbrella movement"). In a fixed sequence shot, the film captured students meeting each other in the hall, in the rooms, discussing, arguing about or remaining indifferent to the event, while it continued to rain outside.

From the vast expanse of land and sky comes a wild child with a camel into the city. They encounter a policeman who is fascinated by this mysterious child seemingly isolated from human contact and culture. The policeman tries to establish communication through language without success. As he learns more about the child, the latter inspires him to let go and find his long-lost freedom. Conventional interactions between people mask our true instincts and qualities that only emanate when we return to the basics.

Amid changing times, as friends and relatives are leaving the city one after the other, our once familiar neighbourhood is becoming foreign. Yeung Por Por has her luggage packed for the one-way flight out of the city with her son. During her final hours in Hong Kong, she goes to the Wan Chai seaside and is shocked to find a barricaded construction site. Following Rhea, her domestic helper to the latter’s Filipino community, Yeung Por Por realises what it means to be uprooted from one’s homeland. Subtly and wistfully, the film relates the difficulties and dilemmas of migration, closing with ‘You Said We’d Be Back’ by the folk-rock duo My Little Airport.

In a traditional fishing village where most youngsters have left to work in the city, the older generations are left behind. Ren, a widow who lives in the village helps her neighbour, Mrs Wah, to deliver a gift to her son, Chung in the city. Ren finds out that Chung is leading a harsh life. Back in the village, there is no one with whom she can share this secret. The only refuge from the sleepless night is her deceased husband. A Thousand Sails is a short tale about the poignant separation between city and village, mother and son, life and death. With long shots and sophisticated art direction, Eric Tsang Hing-weng compellingly captures the actors’ performances, especially that of Professor Chow Po-chung’s surprising debut.

Agnes and Qing are Hong Kong's representative rhythmic swimming athletes. They have swept the pairs event awards since childhood. Unexpectedly, an epidemic brought the world to a standstill and caused a sudden change in their relationship. Agnes found that she had different emotions and could not get rid of the desire for Qing's body. To escape her desire, she even had sex with her pursuer Amin. As her life becomes more chaotic, she is deprived of her qualifications for the main election. Watching Qing practice a pas de deux with others, Agnes becomes jealous and discovers that she not only did not love Amin, she didn't enjoy sex with him. Agnes returned to practice, hoping to regain her body pride, but without a swimming pool and close friends, she couldn't dance the pas de deux. When they were unable to jump down, Qing appeared like a gift, and the two climbed into the pool without water.

Fei roams the city at night, attempting to capture it with her camera. One night she meets a mysterious cow in the busy city and photographs it. Soon she meets Ming, who is trying to record the cow's noise. Together they attempt to find the elusive cow.

Facing many hard times and difficulties in life, Tsz-Chun has no one to share with but his toy astronaut. One day in school there was a drama show about space exploration. In between fantasy and reality he embarks on an adventurous journey.
