Kiyoka, a doctor, will stop at nothing to exact revenge on the woman she thinks brought destruction to her marriage and life. Misaki, a working interpreter, wife and mother-to-be, will do anything to protect the people she loves. Meanwhile, both women are forced to reconcile the love for their husbands with other men in their lives who seem to understand their very essence.

Ame is in Junior high and lives with her father, who is a butterfly collector in search of the Troides Magellunus. One fateful day, he decided to take a trip to Taiwan in hopes of catching the elusive specimen. Unfortunately, something goes wrong…. and Ame is left with only memories of Father… Memories that seem to have allowed him to return… as a spirit guide for Ame.

Katherine Turner initially accompanied her father, Vice President of the United States, on his official trip to Japan but decided to stay longer to study the Japanese art of flower arrangement for her business back in the States. Yukio Hamaguchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and also a very good friend of Katherine’s father, assigns his nephew Ichiro to escort Katherine during her stay. Ichiro is halfhearted at first but when Katherine’s old friend Maiko becomes the victim of a murder case, Katherine and Ichiro start to reveal their talent as brilliant detectives by untangling clues and solving the case together.

Naoko and Monami, mother and daughter, are in a bus accident. Naoko dies, but her spirit ends up inhabiting Monami's body. She then returns home to Heisuke, dad, and they try to figure out how to live their lives. Additionally, there is some suspicion surrounding the cause of the accident, which Heisuke investigates.

Natsumi takes a job at Kitchen Macaroni, a family-run restaurant known for its omelets, pretending to be the fiancée of the owner's eldest son. Though initially met with skepticism by the staff and family, she gradually wins them over.

Kamikawa Ryohei is a 35-year-old man who works in a foreign company and lives a happy family life with his wife and son. A high school student’s mother passes away leaving her alone with her grief. The girl, Marimo, discovers the name of a father she never knew. Marimo sets off to meet him, but is completely shocked when she finds someone very different from the father she envisioned. Her father, Shinpei, a 38-year-old would-be private detective, is shocked too, and doesn’t believe her until he sees the paperwork. With Marimo muttering “The worst father in the world” and Shinpei lamenting the loss of his freedom, these two are about to learn how difficult and rewarding a father/daughter relationship can be.

Happily married to Koichi, 30-year-old Kaoru's world is shaken when she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Amidst this turmoil, they discover that Kaoru is pregnant. Deciding to keep the baby, they name their little girl Himawari. But Kaoru's condition worsens, and she begins to wonder what is left that she can do...for her husband and her daughter. Before she is no longer able, she begins to write a long letter to her daughter. Her heartfelt letter forms the backbone and narration of this touching drama series.
