A former public-services worker wants to return to his job. In the attempt, he meets wandering people, who seek "parallel ways" of survival in a chaotic socio-political context in Chile, after the 1973 Coup d'état .

Monica is 13 years old and has already created her own world, on the street, where she fights courageously to defend what little she has: her friends, her boyfriend, who sells drugs, and her dignity and pride that makes no concessions to anyone. On Christmas night, like every night, she sells roses to make a living. But life brings her a new appointment with loneliness, poverty, drugs and death.

The reality of pregnant teenagers from popular sectors, the absence of information about how to prevent pregnancy and the lack of knowledge of how their own sexuality works. Their dreams, hopes and the strength they display to assume a radical change for which neither they nor their environment are prepared.

A group of left-wing intellectuals take over a building with the purpose of forming a Ministry of Culture, however, the workers oppose the takeover. Intellectuals and workers establish a coexistence pact while waiting for Godoy, a union boss. After conflicts over ideological differences about culture, the takeover dissolves, just when Godoy appears with a totally elitist and apolitical discourse.

On Thursday, April 2, 1987, thousands of young people came to the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile to meet Pope John Paul II. After many years, young people would be able to meet freely and make their voices heard. (Introductory text at the beginning of this documentary).

This documentary is based on the bestselling book Chile Actual: Anatomy of a Myth, by sociologist Tomás Moulian. Comprised of testimonies from diverse voices in social, political, philosophical, and cultural thought, it revisits the country's transformations from the 1990s to the turn of the century, offering a critical perspective whose impact resonates to this day.

Featuring the Mapuche poet Elicura Chihuailaf, this is a poetic re-creation of the Mapuche territory that once stretched across southern Chile and Argentina, without borders. It explores Mapuche communities in Neuquén, Argentina, and Chilean Mapuches who have migrated to Neuquén. Elicura's journey through the land of yesteryear recreates the imagery that has shaped his poetic creation.
