In Lignan, a village of few souls in the Saint-Barthelemy Valley in the Aosta Valley, an Astronomical Observatory scans the skies every night. Like a bell tower or a lighthouse, the large telescope marks the time of the small mountain community. In autumn, the astrophysicist Paolo Calcidese moved into the structure as the sole custodian and inhabitant to carry out his scientific research and experiment with new technologies. Due to a technical accident, however, he will be forced to put aside the stars and solitude to dedicate himself to other forms of life not yet considered: human beings.

The parallel stories of Moka, a young artisan of Moroccan origin, and Achille, an old fortune-teller, once a celebrity on regional TV. Moka studies and experiments with the secrets of metal transformation, while Achille returns to civilian life after a long period of imprisonment.

Caltabellotta is a small town in the far south of Sicily. Born on the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Triokala, its name depends on the three gifts received from Mother Nature: the fertility of its countryside, the sweetness of the water and the ancient fortress on the lace of the mountain, which made the place impregnable, protecting the inhabitants from evil. Over the centuries, the traces of that knowledge somewhere between magic, religion and superstition have been lost in the fog. But you can still recognize the faces of its people, in their relationship with the animal and plant world, in many religious and pagan rituals, an ancient knowledge that marks, even today, the time and the relationship between man and nature.
