The Invention of Brasilia

The waters of the Atlantic brought the slaves from Africa to Brazil, their bodies in chains but their souls inexorably tied to mother Africa. This Brazilian- made film takes us to both shores, to show how spiritual life, dance and song came with the captive people and took root in the new soil. Among the many traditions were the language and gods of Yoruba and Jejes from the Republic of Benin. When a group of freed slaves returned to Africa to rediscover their roots they were looked upon as outsiders. They became tradespeople - tailors, accountants and builders- and they actually brought Portuguese culture to Africa. Today, when Brazilians revisit Africa, they teach the Africans the culture that these descendants of slaves keep alive in Brazil. The documentary is a testimony to some of the ironies of the diaspora.

All the lives of Cora Coralina in a poetic narrative in the voices, feelings and interpretations of six generations of great Brazilian actresses. A polyphony of the voices that inhabited Cora, revealed in prose, verse and images with its immense literary talent and human content. The film reveals the trajectory of Cora Coralina, from her childhood years to getting married and leaving Goiás, from the long period of 45 years lived in different cities in the state of São Paulo and her return to the City of Goiás, when she revealed herself to Brazil with the strength of his poetry.

"Pureza" tells a story of a mother, Pureza, who goes in search of her son, Abel, disappeared after leaving for the mining in the Amazon.

A re-edited Italian-language dubbed version of the original Godzilla, using as a basis the U.S. version, "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!" (1956), plus WWII newsreel footage and clips from other science fiction films. The re-edited film was then colorized via a process called "Spectrorama 70" consisting of applying various colored gels to the black and white footage. The film's opening and ending also features new music composed by musicians Fabio Frizzi, Franco Bixio, and Vince Tempera (under the pseudonym Magnetic System).

Many Brazilians think that slavery ended with the signing of the Lei Áurea. But the relations of slave exploitation of labor persist until today. It is estimated that there are 369,000 Brazilians living and working as slaves. Through the testimony of modern abolitionists and rural workers who were victims of contemporary slavery, Servidão investigates the slave mentality of Brazilian society, which dates back to five centuries.

The Austrian naturalist Johann Natterer (1787-1843) came to Brazil in 1817 as a member of the Austrian Expedition. The eighteen years he spent in the country resulted in an impressive collection of more than 50,000 objects.

The series aims to present the particular universe of thirteen traditional legends of the Brazilian imagination, in a playful and poetic way, which is the objective of Animated Legends.

About the routine of those who live on the streets of São Paulo. Gilberto, a cardboard scavenger, becomes the video reporter and interviews other homeless people about poverty, exclusion, work and life.
