2084. The global economic crisis, ecological disasters, and the depletion of natural resources have forced the World Organization of Problem-Aware Nations to adopt a pledge: at the end of each year, a randomly selected country must eliminate all individuals aged thirty. Louise and Ivan, newlyweds, are invited to a lavish reception where they will experience their last New Year's Eve. Louise yearns for one last breath of freedom, even if it means pushing Ivan into the arms of another.

Increasingly intoxicated, she projects herself into these erotic and imaginary worlds, even if it means going through the looking glass.
