Southlander: Diary of a Desperate Musician

Return of the Rub-A-Dub Style charts the dual history of reggae soundsystem culture in Jamaica and its renewal at L.A.’s weekly Dub Club, held in Echo Park, where hardcore Jamaican micsmiths known as “deejays” come from around the world to “chat on the mic” with their lyrics of consciousness. Featured artists include Brigadier Jerry, Ranking Joe, Sister Nancy and U-Roy.

Strange Parallel is a documentary/short film revolving around the American singer/songwriter Elliott Smith. The film features interviews with Elliott himself as well as fans, friends and other acquaintances of his (including Gus Van Sant, Larry Crane, and the members of Quasi). The film also includes snippets of Elliott Smith performing as well as footage of him recording an unreleased song, "Brand New Game". The film sometimes moves out of reality, with acted-out, metaphorical sequences that involve Elliott considering purchasing a mechanical hand (a "robot hand" ) to improve his music.

A twisted 16mm Gen X comedy disguised as a 1970s drive-in flick, KILL THE MOONLIGHT is the story of Chance, a fish hatchery worker, toxic waste cleaner, and aspiring race car driver whose goal in life is to fix up his Camaro and follow his dreams of championship glory. As the film unfolds, Chance unravels in strange ways after getting contaminated by toxic waste.

Through diary entries and archival footage, the life of an industrial waste-dumper unfolds from youthful ambition to ecological disaster.
