While residents were taking a siesta in the intense heat, an F5 tornado on the Fujita scale devastated the town's main avenue. Forty-six years later, four women who witnessed it share their stories: Miryam lost her mother-in-law, Liliana was trapped by debris, her sister Marta was trapped by a wardrobe, both lost their parents and were orphaned, and the Chazarreta family lost a 3-year-old daughter. The result: 50 dead and more than 500 injured. However, the worst came later: dark remnants of the tornado that make them fear any storm that may unleash in San Justo, a city that lost so much and is still trying to recover. For many, the tornado never left San Justo.
